Reviews:
I really
like the design of this mask, purchased for a particular situation that
required a ghostly character to speak. The fine stretch fabric that the
latex pieces are attached to makes a comfortable full-head hood, and
it's surprisingly breathable. One of the latex pieces came away from
the hood at one spot (not really surprising, given the amount of flexing
we were doing) and a dot of hot glue fixed it quickly.
The mask
works great and is of excellent quality. Anyone who is having trouble
getting the jaw to move simply needs to adjust the mask. What you have
to do is gently move the headpiece down while the mask is on, until the
top ridge of the eye holes is nearly covering your eyes. Yes, it
occludes your vision a bit, bit it's completely manageable. You know
you're in the butter zone when your nose pops out from beneath the black
mask cloth beneath the upper tooth ridge. Not only does it provide
better breathing, but it also provides more leverage with the upper jaw
piece when talking because you use it in conjunction with the foam pad
at the lower jaw. A visual indicator is that when your mouth is closed,
the upper and lower jaw of the mask will be touching, or nearly
touching. That's when you've got it right. Now when you talk, even
with slight jaw movements, the mask will match you perfectly. For me,
the trade-off in slightly reduced visual clarity is well worth it in
order to have a well animated mask. To hide your eyes, wear an
old-fashioned black stocking over your head. Covers the eyes perfectly.
If the nylon presses against your eyelids too much, use a pair of
swimming goggles under the nylon. Totally comfortable and works like a
charm.
We love
Halloween. What we don't love is nearly passing out from masks that
offer no circulation. Seriously, it happens. Zagone has always been
one of our favorite mask manufacturers, especially masks with moving
mouths like this one. The 'jaw' is secured to the larger head piece of
the mask by black mesh, which not only allows a great deal of
ventilation, but also allows the mouth to move. Awesome. And
comfortable. The mesh continues over the neck and extends far enough
that it is easily covered by a cloak or cape, making the complete
costume easy to put together. In the correct light and with black
makeup around the eyes, this mask is pretty believable and we have
scared our share or trick-or-treaters with it.
